Flying Displays Our displays are the talk of the Isle of Wight! Featuring a large range of interesting birds of prey from around the world, with a factual and informative commentary, they last for approximately 45 minutes.
On wet days the flying displays go inside, where the birds fly in the purpose built, converted brewhouse. This allows the falconers to continue uninterrupted whatever the weather!
At certain displays, our senior falconer will demonstrate horseback Falconry. All Weather Attraction The centre has both indoor, and outdoor display areas.
|
The Café The Aviary Cafe within the Owl and Falconry Centre, serves a delicious selection of hot and cold snacks and lunches. prepared on the premises with local ingredients. On busy days we offer a pre order service to ensure your lunch is ready for you immediately after you have watched the display.

The centre runs a number of courses designed to offer people of all ages, and abilities, an opportunity to experience the thrill of falconry. Here at the centre we think that we have pretty good history of falconry, as Henry VIII cane here in 1539, to practice the art of Falconry. The Appuldurcombe Estate, in- parked in the 18th C is now, as it was then, a spectacular site to fly all types of bird. Rising to 200m at its highest point, and with the excellent sea breezes that only an Island can offer, the estate has some excellent rising currents of air, that even the biggest birds can appreciate. During the season the park is stocked with Pheasant, Partridge, Woodcock, Duck, Crow, Rook, Moorhen, Rabbit, and Hare.
We can offer half day taster 'sessions', a one day course or a 2 day weekend course, with optional accommodation in on of our quality self catering cottages on the estate. Numbers will be limited to ensure individual attention. We can also provide special, individually crafted courses for companies on request; phone for details. We can offer special ferry rates for those booking the ferry at the same time, with Wightlink, or arrange for you to be collected from the passenger ferry. |
